Fascinating – the 7 Triggers

eileen 14th June 2010

ipadI had to have the iPad, I really don’t know exactly how I am going to use it, but I couldn’t even imagine not having one.  Typically I am not an early adapter, but this product grabbed my attention in a powerful way.

As I was waiting for the coveted item to arrive I happened to listen to a Podcast by Mitch Joel where he interviews Sally Hogshead, author of Fascinate, Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation.  This got me thinking, What are my fascination triggers and how can I use these strategies to build a more successful business pitch.

Hogshead’s fascination points are: mystique, alarm, lust, prestige, power, vice and trust

By hitting the right triggers you can make your product become fascinating.  It feels is risky to be a polarizing force, but middle of the road certainly wouldn’t have gotten me to shell out for a product that I didn’t even understand its full capabilities.

I am working on making things more fascinating, any suggestions or success stories?
