My friends at Expand2Web have taken their Small Business WordPress Theme to the next level – MOBILE! This is super exciting because according to Google, traffic from mobile devices and smart phones like iPhone, iPad and Android is exploding,
“50% of the searches from these devices are for local goods and services”
What this means for the searcher – when a potential customer has come to your site via a mobile device, a touch-enabled layout is automatically delivered. Two very obvious choices, Call Us & Directions appear on the homescreen. These new features come packaged nicely inside of the newly released Expand2Web version 3.5. The theme includes:
Mobile Landing Pages – Serve special touch-enabled layout automatically when mobile a device is detected. Including iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android devices.
Fully customization navigation menus – New CSS Based alternative navigation menu with color chooser
New color schemes – 3 New graphical color schemes
New Layout- New “Classic Video” page layout due to popular demand!
This video has Don Campbell, President of Expand2Web giving you a tour of the SmallBiz Theme. The guys were nice enough to send me a copy of the theme before it was released. Of the new color schemes, there is one that I really love (a bit more girlie than their previous offerings), and the ability to change the background color/image is amazing. I have been using the theme since version 1.5, and trust me, this is light years ahead of where they were just two short years ago! The mobile theme option is very easy to use. Within their dashboard you either enter the data you wish to display or you leave it blank (for example, I meet clients by appointment only, I don’t want to offer driving directions, so I don’t enable the mobile feature). In the interest of full disclosure – I do NOT have any financial gain in you buying this theme. I am passing along the knowledge, as the guys at Expand2Web are terrific (see previous post) and I also believe that there is plenty of room for all of us to succeed. I have created over a dozen websites using their theme, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions. If you need help getting your website mobile ready, please give me a call! This is my blog and I hope you enjoy it. I try to share tips and tricks that I have learned about WordPress and digital marketing, which hopefully will make your life a bit easier. I have been working on search engine marketing for clients since 2003.
I have been doing the web design gig for a while now, and I have not gotten tired of it (yet) because every day things are changing. When I started, even with WordPress, I had to create image files in Photoshop to upload (via ftp) to change the background color of nav bar. Even though […]
Adding Icon Fonts to your website has never been easier thanks to Awesome Fonts and the folks over at BootstrapCDN. They have made it possible to import over 479 icons to your website with a single line of code. You no longer have to download or install anything! WooHoo. You can do your happy dance […]
One of the most flexible and interesting features of the Divi Theme is the ability to use CSS ID’s and CSS Classes. Don’t have a clue as to what they mean, no worries let me explain. CSS: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the look and formatting of a […]
I have never posted about being a “working mom” or integrating a “work life balance”, because I find both terms annoying, and generally insulting. Work is part of life and regardless of gender, if you have littles in your life, you are hustling. Last week I got a lovely email from Veronika Berg, who lives […]
I ran an experiment on my website involving having a simple contact form in the footer of each page in addition to my standard contact page. What I found was interesting. By making a simple contact form easily accessible and visible on the bottom of each page, I was contacted through this form more often […]
