My friends at Expand2Web have taken their Small Business WordPress Theme to the next level – MOBILE! This is super exciting because according to Google, traffic from mobile devices and smart phones like iPhone, iPad and Android is exploding,
“50% of the searches from these devices are for local goods and services”
What this means for the searcher – when a potential customer has come to your site via a mobile device, a touch-enabled layout is automatically delivered. Two very obvious choices, Call Us & Directions appear on the homescreen. These new features come packaged nicely inside of the newly released Expand2Web version 3.5. The theme includes:
Mobile Landing Pages – Serve special touch-enabled layout automatically when mobile a device is detected. Including iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android devices.
Fully customization navigation menus – New CSS Based alternative navigation menu with color chooser
New color schemes – 3 New graphical color schemes
New Layout– New “Classic Video” page layout due to popular demand!
This video has Don Campbell, President of Expand2Web giving you a tour of the SmallBiz Theme. The guys were nice enough to send me a copy of the theme before it was released. Of the new color schemes, there is one that I really love (a bit more girlie than their previous offerings), and the ability to change the background color/image is amazing. I have been using the theme since version 1.5, and trust me, this is light years ahead of where they were just two short years ago! The mobile theme option is very easy to use. Within their dashboard you either enter the data you wish to display or you leave it blank (for example, I meet clients by appointment only, I don’t want to offer driving directions, so I don’t enable the mobile feature). In the interest of full disclosure – I do NOT have any financial gain in you buying this theme. I am passing along the knowledge, as the guys at Expand2Web are terrific (see previous post) and I also believe that there is plenty of room for all of us to succeed. I have created over a dozen websites using their theme, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions. If you need help getting your website mobile ready, please give me a call! This is my blog and I hope you enjoy it. I try to share tips and tricks that I have learned about WordPress and digital marketing, which hopefully will make your life a bit easier. I have been working on search engine marketing for clients since 2003.
Regardless of how much a WordPress theme offers you with their built in features, clients and web designers invariably want customizations. Mike Wallagher of StartBloggin.com shared this handy cheat sheet with me and I thought you may find it helpful. Thank you for sharing Mike!
Recently I connected with New York City Comedian Jenn Welch who was gracious enough to share with me her experience with Periscope for a blog post on the topic. I learned a lot from Jenn and researching Periscope and one big take away was that there are lots of different ways to your grow your audience. […]
I am running into just as many people who have NOT heard of Periscope as those who LOVE the new(ish) platform so let me begin by telling you a little bit about Periscope in case you haven’t begun using it yet. The start up behind the App was purchased by Twitter in March for $100 MILLION! […]
You may have noticed the trend with having a logo appear as a transparent layer over a hero image on a homepage. Personally I love the look and can’t think of a better example than in the Cafe Child Theme (which you can download for free and use it with the Divi Theme). I recently used […]
I see this question all the time in the Divi Users Facebook Group and figured I would post the options that I find easiest to use. First, you can edit the php files. This isn’t particularly complicated, but it can be scary for some if you are not comfortable with the Editor files. Note: you […]
