The Choices I Use When Adding An Image
Written by: Eileen Lonergan
When adding an image to a WordPress page or post I have a system that I stick to consistently.
- I choose an alignment, either left or sometimes centered or right NEVER none
- I give the image a title and reuse the exact title for Alt Text & Description
- Note: regardless of when you actually do this step DON’T SKIP IT! The search engines don’t know that 155854.jpg is an image of your cool new item – you need to tell them. This is very important for SEO
- I ALWAYS select NONE for link url unless the link is going to another website or blog post
I really try hard to do this each time I add an image, as I am not a big fan of backtracking. I like to get things right as early into a project as possible because I am just not a great “Zamboni” of my own work. Plus, inevitably a client will see a draft of a project and get stuck on the “clean up” items and this can stall a project.
What is your process? I love to learn.
