The Marketing of You | Dorie Clark Interview

I recently read the book Reinventing You: Define Your Brand, Imagine Your Future by branding expert Dorie Clark. I am crazy about Dorie, she is smart, concise and engaging. I reached out to her as I thought she would be perfect to discuss the concept of the Squiggly Path, my series on people have embraced technology to enhance their careers (or used technology to change their career paths altogether).
The book has some specific points of interest that I really found profound:
- Your personal brand = your reputation. You can hope people get the message that you want to portray or you can manage the process.
- Managing the process isn’t manipulation, it is showcasing the best you have to offer.
- Build your narrative. Explain to people why your career moves make sense and how your expierance is relevant.
