Website for a Therapist | Life Coach
Written by: Eileen Lonergan
I really love this website. It is clean, very well written and thoughtful. Jean has taken the time to curate books and CD’s around the subjects of mindfulness and being happy and she has some great quotes that I really like such as: Whatever follows “I am”, follows me!
For Jean’s site I used the SmallBiz theme from Expand2Web and a few plugins to give it a customized look.
- Supreme Google Webfonts by Josh Lobe
- Testimonials Widget by Michael Cannon
- WPBakery Visual Composer available on Canyon Code
It is easy to change the fonts on individual pages and posts with the Google Webfont plugin, but I didn’t feel like doing this with each page, and then of course as the homepage is composed of widgets I would have had to go into each widget and add the code – so to change the font globally in the SmallBiz theme, navigate to your CSS file and use this little bit of code:
font-family: Playfair Display,serif;
font: 85%/125% Playfair Display,serif;
I used this plugin for the inspirational quotes you find on the services pages: Individual Counseling / Coaching, working with Businesses and then Groups / Workshops. These were a bit time consuming, as we had three sets of quotes, (so create three sets of categories with the testimonial section, just as you would for posts). The widget has lots of options, I slowed down the rotation time and you can specify which categories of testimonials (quotes) are placed on the appropriate pages. Note: with the SmallBiz theme you can create custom page templates, so each page has it’s own specific sidebar, which makes life super easy!
My friend Jay Wasack pretty much insisted I get this, and man, he is RIGHT! You will love it also, totally worth your $25. Now here is one tip – it doesn’t always play nice with Firefox – I was having trouble dragging and dropping (which let me tell you can be super annoying), I opened Safari and bingo easy peasy. Checkout the two boxes that I styled on the Business page, in record time. Note: I did spend forever trying to make the info within the text boxes to look about the same and I wanted to share this tip on adjusting the line height with you:
To get the boxes the same height I used the height:301px then I changed the line-height between the two boxes so the over all amount of text looked similar.
I hope you like the site, I am crazy about it and my new client Jean, she is awesome. If you need help customized your website or working with the SmallBiz theme let me know.
